Thankyou and Merry Christmas to our staff…

It’s been a busy year at our Centre with lots of fun events for our children (and some for parents too!) and lots of hard work by our staff. If you’re a parent with a child at the Centre, you might like to offer your thanks and Christmas wishes to our staff (below).

To you all. Sincere thanks for providing felton with such a warm, fun and safe environment in which to grow in independence and confidence. He runs down that path each morning……heartwarming for a parent to see!
Wishing you a happy Christmas and new year and a restful break.
    Thank you,

Happy holidays to our nursery friends.

I rave about the staff at UPCCC at every opportunity – probably not helping the waiting list! We feel very fortunate to have had Henry join the gumnuts this year. He has made great friends, big and small, and shows such fondness for this teachers. Its amazing to see how each of their little personalities is being fostered with such care and fun in what is a often a very busy and tricky job. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and we look forward to 2012 as a ‘big’ possum!

Merry Christmas to all and thank you all so much for the wonderful care you have given to Paco over the past two year. He loves coming to childcare and playing with his friends and participating in the range of stimulating activities you provide. We are all very sorry that he will be leaving at the end of the year, but we hope to continue the relationship next year when his little sister arrives!

Merry Christmas to all the UPCCC staff, especially to Gumnut and Possum teachers. Thanks everyone to look after Annalene over the last one year. Seeing the profile of Annelane and I have learnt that how much she has grown in her little physical body and develop her lovely personality. Both the children and parents have developed our friendship over there. Andrei and I would like to thank all your care and love to the children in the nursery!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the staff, particularly, teachers from the preschool. Emily constantly talks her friends lately, and keep singing Merry Christmas songs to Katie, Norma, Helen, Emma, Jesse, …, and her mates at Geokos. Also our big thanks to all people working in the admin. Regards from China, soon to USA.

Our sincere thanks to all the UPCCC staff esp the Gecko, Kookaburra and Bilby teachers for taking such good care of Ethan and Joye. Thank you for making our move to Canberra so much easier. For your smiles and kind words almost everyday without fail. :) For your patience & guidance, esp with E. We are filled with thanksgiving as we watch them both grow in confidence and character. And for the loads of fun activities and toys! (even I am envious!) We know we have found a great place when the kids look forward to school every day! Thank you. You’re a fantastic bunch!
Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas & New Year!

Merry Christmas to all the staff at UPCCC – you make us feel welcome every day, you include Magnus in the centre and you cope wonderfully with the one and only Fifi! She is always happy and smiling, barefoot and filthy when we pick her up and who could ask for more? :)

A Christmas letter from one of our past families

    Hello Eileen!

I wanted to let you know that we think about you and the others at UPCCC ALL THE TIME! The care that our children got from you and your staff has been truly unparalleled by our experiences here in the US and we also miss all the friendships we had there. The children are growing fast..as they do…and are thriving. Ashby is still an easy-going happy little boy, now just 21 months old. Saying lots of words and really communicating a lot through signing and talking. He is a real sweetheart. I really wish he could have stayed on at UPCCC longer; I feel like he really missed out. Adah will still talk your ear off until the cows come home. It’s hard to get a word in edge-wise with her. She is still outgoing, athletic and full of energy. She misses Tongbo dearly and keeps asking if we can go back to Australia to visit Tongbo. Her teachers continue to be amazed by her skills with a pair of scissors–something that Tongbo encouraged and taught her to do. She is now a star soccer player, outrunning all the other 4 to 6 year-olds and scoring lots of goals.

We have switched daycares once since arriving here, from a Jewish one to a Lutheran one (almost all of them are religiously affiliated somehow). The class size was oddly too small at the first place for Adah, who needs lots of social interaction with peers her age. The new place is much better for her and she always has a smile on her face when I come to pick her up. Ashby is so easy-going that I fear he may get neglected, but he has bonded with his carers and seems to be happy. We have run into a lot of issues regarding the handing out of candy as bribes for homework in preschool, and at holiday times, and unhealthy snacks in general which really makes us appreciate the practices at UPCCC where these things were never a problem. It is so challenging here to ensure that they are getting healthy food all the time. It is no wonder that diabetes and obesity are such a problem when you see what everyone is eating, especially the kids. Most daycares provide lunches of chicken nuggets, pizza, macaroni and cheese, etc. and we had a hard time finding one where we could bring our own food. Perhaps this is true in Australia as well. The other quality that UPCCC has is the incredible attention to detail with respect to each child that the staff members have. I really felt that my children were being watched closely and any change in behaviour was noted and their needs were recognized and met. After reading a recent assessment of Ashby’s development, it is clear that they have not recognized his ability to perform various milestones that are quite obvious to me. I list these things out not to complain, but to take the opportunity to give you all a BIG pat on the back. What you do is amazing and it is worth its weight in gold–correction, platinum! Not just for the parents’ peace of mind, but for the positive and nurturing influence you have on every child’s life.

We wish all of you a very, very happy Christmas and do truly wish we could be there with you. You stay close in our hearts and minds.

    With love,
    Andrea, Lex, Adah, and Ashby

Well what can I say!! Its been an amazing 5 years. We have just felt so lucky to have our boys in such a wonderful place. I never felt very guilty dropping them off as I knew they were getting the very best of care. And we all need a little less guilt in our lives – especially parents with young children!

I feel very grateful that 40+ years ago some parents got together and formed UPCCC and I’ll do everything I can do to make sure as many other parents get the opportunity to access such high quality care in the future.

Keep up the great work and have a wonderful holiday!

  11. Chenghan, Wen and Yongling says:

Wish all the UPCCC staff a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Special thanks to the staff in Echidnas and Geckos’ rooms. You have given Chenghan a lot of care and a lot of help, which have been made him become more and more comfortable with the enviorment and more and more confident to play with other kids alothough his English is still not good enough. We have noticed that he picks up the English language quite quick under your very patient help!
    Thank you very much!
Hope Chenghan will do better next year in Geckos’ room!
