Staff

Our Staff are the heart of our centre. They are dedicated to providing each child with the individual care and education they need to learn and develop and are committed to supporting families to provide their children with the best start in life. This is what makes them special as people and professionals.

All staff at University Preschool and Child Care Centre hold relevant qualifications and/or have extensive experience working with children.

Our Management Committee recognises the importance of ongoing professional development to ensuring that our staff are knowledgeable about current thinking and best practice in early childhood care and education.

Throughout the year Staff regularly attend professional and the Centre closes for one day a year so that all staff can participate in a day of professional development tailored to the needs of the staff and centre.
During the hours of operation, the Centre maintains staff/child ratios of:

  • 1 staff to every 4 children under the age of two years;
  • 1 staff to every 5 children between two and three years;
  • 1 staff to every 10 children aged between three years and four years;
  • 1 staff to every 11 children aged four years to school age

All permanent staff hold current first aid certificates

The Centre Currently Employs:

Administration

  • A full-time Director with a Degree in Early Childhood Education;
  • A full-time Assistant Director with an Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services
  • A part-time Admin assistant;

Preschool Section

  • A full-time preschool teacher/room leader with a Degree in Early Childhood Teaching;
  • 1 full-time Room Leader with a Diploma in Children’s Services;
  • 1 full-time Assistant, also with a Diploma in Children’s Services
  • 1 full-time assistant with over 20 yrs experience;
  • 1 Part-time morning floater with more than 30 yrs experience in Children’s services who covers staff breaks – Morning Tea & Lunch;
  • 1 Part-time afternoon floater who is doing a traineeship for the Certificate 3 in Children’s Services who covers staff breaks – Lunch & afternoon tea;

Toddlers Section

  •  2 full-time Room Leaders with a Diploma in Children’s Services
  • 1 part-time Assistant with a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services
  • 1 part-time Assistant who is doing a Traineeship for her Diploma in Children’s Services
  • 1 full-time Assistant with a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services
  • 1 part-time morning floater with a Diploma in Children’s Services who covers staff breaks – Morning tea & Lunch
  • 1 part-time afternoon floater doing her Traineeship for Certificate 3 in Children’s Services who covers staff breaks – Lunch & afternoon tea
  • 1 full-time floater

Nursery Section

  • 1 full-time Room Leader with a Diploma in Children’s Services
  • 1 full-time Room Leader doing a Traineeship for a Diploma of Children’s Services
  • 1 full-time Assistant with over 5 years in Children’s Services
  • 1 Part-time Assistant with over 20 years experience in Children’s Services
  • 1 part-time Assistant with a Diploma in Children’s services
  • 1 full -time Floater doing a Traineeship in Certificate 3 Children’s Services
  • 1 Part-time floater with a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services

We also employ 2 Full-time Floaters who work across the centre and cover staff on leave
